Your weekly guide to TV’s best and worst one-hour shows
Ladies, Don Draper returns this week to make TV a lot easier on the eyes. And as a bonus, the 1960s heartbreaker is drawing out every other past crush-worthy male:
“Whiskey Business” (Sunday, 7 p.m., CMT) Mama can’t decide which part of the Pauly Shore — yes, Pauly Shore—TV movie press release induces more giggles, the headline: “Pauly Shore brings guido to the country” or the quote from CMT programming veep Mary Beth Cunin: “Pauly’s movie ‘Son In Law’ is one of CMT’s top performers, so to find a new vehicle to showcase his talent and popularity is an exciting opportunity.” Mama only mentions this movie because “Smallville’s” hot dad, John “Fire My Agent” Schneider, plays the corrupt sheriff.
“Body of Proof” (Tuesday, 10 p.m., ABC) Original “Beverly Hills, 90210” hottie Luke Perry sports some facial hair as a CDC officer who arrives on the scene for a two-parter when Megan (Dana Delaney) and her team investigate a city-wide outbreak.
“The Good Wife” (Sunday, 9 p.m., CBS) “Growing Pains”/“Friends” crush Matthew Perry lands in what is supposed to pass as Chicago for a recurring guest role. He’s no match for the cunningly cute Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox), but expect Perry to work his charm — and rock the graying-at-the-temples look — as the chairman of a panel investigating a police shooting.
“Up All Night” (Thursday, 9:30 p.m., NBC) Mama usually avoids this parenting comedy, as she hates to watch two of her favorite comedic actresses — Maya Rudolph and Christina Applegate — wasted in this middling series. But she’ll make an exception this week because of the possible “Arrested Development” reunion between series star Will Arnett and guest star Henry Winkler, who broke plenty of hearts as The Fonz.
Oh Baby: Mama gets it. She should be happy when something good happens for her child, even if sometimes it’s at the expense of her own enjoyment. But her toddler daughter now has 100 channels devoted to singing pirates and dancing explorers, so Mama’s a bit peeved that tonight is the last night she can put the little princess to bed and relax with her glass of malbec and a recap of the day’s soapy goodness. SoapNet bows to Disney Junior at midnight, which means Mama’s nights just ended a little earlier.
