SHARANA, Afghanistan — Dramatic video emerged Wednesday showing a US military helicopter apparently losing control and crashing in the snow in Afghanistan.
The amateur footage shows the chopper fly in fast and low, narrowly missing a building before slamming into the ground, sending snow skyward as it skids along the ground. It almost hits a crowd of people before lifting off briefly and then crashing in the distance.
A spokesperson for the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan told ABC News that, miraculously, no one had been injured on the ground or in the aircraft in the Feb. 6 incident in Paktika province.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
A former military pilot told ABC the chopper looked like it was conducting dangerous maneuvers when the pilot lost control.
The person who shot the video has not yet been identified.
