Aretha Franklin just turned 70 — and did so in New York City, with the likes of Diane Sawyer and the Rev. Al Sharpton joining fans in serenading her with Stevie Wonder’s version of “Happy Birthday.”
Saturday’s celebration at the Helmsley Park Lane Hotel included a dance performance, music by jazz pianist Kris Bowers and a three-tier, lime-green birthday cake.
Plus, Franklin said she has signed with Clive Davis and Sony to do a new album.
