LOS ANGELES — “The Hunger Games” swallowed up the competition with a $155 million opening weekend that rearranged the domestic record book.
The debut is third best, behind only the $169.2 million start for last year’s “Harry Potter” finale and the $158.4 million scored in 2008 by “The Dark Knight.”
But “Hunger” did set a nonsequel record, more than doubling the first “Twilight” movie’s $69.6 million opening weekend.
