The Daytime Emmys are looking for a media home — TV or otherwise.
The TV academy announced yesterday that the awards ceremony will take place in LA on June 23 at the Beverly Hilton (after two years in Las Vegas).
But whether it will air on TV, or even on the Web, remains to be seen.
In a prepared statement, an academy spokeswoman said that “we are continuing to speak with various networks and social media sites” about finding a home for the Daytime Emmys — leaving open the possibility it could stream on the Web if a TV home isn’t an option.
The telecast — which honors soaps, game shows and daytime talk shows — aired on CBS, in prime time, to low ratings the past two years (including only 5.4 million viewers last year with host Wayne Brady).
In 2009, it aired on The CW, which has no daytime programming, after the other networks passed.
