The homeless man involved in a fight on a Williamsburg subway platform that left a college student dead was slapped with attempted-assault and harassment charges, authorities said yesterday.
Ryan Beauchamp, 33, was allegedly drunk and harassing passengers on an L-train Friday night when he got into a scuffle with La Guardia Community College student Joshua Basin at about 10 o’clock.
The fight moved onto the platform of the Bedford Avenue station, and Beauchamp and Basin tumbled onto the tracks as a Manhattan-bound train rolled in.
Beauchamp was able to pull himself back onto the platform, but Basin, 20, could not and was struck.
He later died at Bellevue Hospital.
Basin’s mother, Zena, who attended her son’s wake last night, said Beauchamp should have been hit with more serious charges.
“It’s just senseless. I have no words to express the amount of anger I have,” she sobbed.
“I don’t understand how you can do something like this to someone and just walk away.
“I’m going to do everything in my power to bring him to justice,” she vowed.
Beauchamp was arraigned last night and held in lieu of $7,000 bail.
