Former Giants and Jets coach Bill Parcells said if he is asked to take the Saints interim coaching job, he would do it as a favor for his former assistant, Sean Payton.
“If this guy says to me, ‘Bill, I need you to do this,’ ” Parcells told Newsday yesterday. “That’s what friends are supposed to be for.”
Parcells told USA Today “we’re a long way off” and the Saints have not offered him the job, which became available after commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Payton for the 2012 season for Payton’s role in the Saints’ bounty program.
