‘Loud Mouth’ to shout signals with QBs on CBS

The logical question for Adam Schein, host of CBS’ “NFL Monday QB” debuting Sept. 10, is this: How will Phil Simms, Rich Gannon, Steve Beuerlein and quarterback friends get a word in edgewise with a notorious “Loud Mouth”?

Schein laughs and tells The Rumble: “I was hired because I have strong opinions, because I know the NFL, and because I know how to stimulate debate.”

Schein, SNY’s resident loudmouth, gave a quick scouting report on some of his quarterback teammates who will be breaking down the previous day’s action from their unique perch:

On Simms: “Winner. Tough. You wanted th ball in his hands when the game was on the line.”

On Gannon: “Smart. He and Phil had that SOB-jerk quotient. The most important thing to them was winning.”

On Beuerlein: “Steady. A great teammate on the college and pro levels.”

On Boomer Esiason: “One of the underrated stars. He achieved things in Cincinnati that haven’t been achieved since.”

Nets guard spending time in Africa

No one forced Nets guard C.J. Watson to give back to the community this summer. Instead, Watson himself went out of his way to be a part of this year’s Basketball Without Borders trip to Africa, where he is in the midst of a trip with several NBA players, along with retired All-Star center Dikembe Mutombo, to Johannesburg, South Africa.

“I just asked if I could go, and luckily I got to go to Africa on my first trip,” Watson, who signed as a free agent with the Nets in July, told The Post’s Tim Bontemps by phone. “Usually they don’t let first-timers go to Africa, usually they have to go somewhere else, but I was lucky enough to come here first.”

Watson, who said he had just completed building some homes in the suburbs of Johannesburg, also spent several days in Senegal before arriving in Johannesburg a Sports Envoy, running camps there with WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw.

“It’s always been something to me, to help in the community, to always give back, and that’s what they’re all about. Giving back to the kids, and also doing other community events, along with basketball camps, while I’ve been here.”

Rockaway native hopes to coach Nigerian hoops

Tim Shea, former Knicks European scout, believes he could be the first Rockaway native to ever participate in the Olympic Games.

Shea, born and bred in Rockaway Beach, was an assistant coach on the Nigerian Olympic team that qualified for its first-ever Games, but ultimately may be remembered as the victims in Team USA’s historic 156-73 rout. Shea, who has been based in Spain, coached Nigeria during its long exhibition tour across China, Brazil and even in Houston before the African country played the Olympic qualifier in July in Venezuala. Nigeria’s stunning upset of Lithuania, a club that gave USA a big scare in London, keyed its Olympic berth.

Shea admitted Nigeria had some off-court issues entering the USA game but tipped his hat to Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s juggernaut.

“The best offensive exhibition I’ve ever seen,’’ Shea told The Rumble. “Nobody on that team played less than great. But it definitely hurt our players’ egos.’’

Those off-court issues probably led to the Nigerian head coach Ayodele Bakare into announcing his resignation after the London Games. Shea is hoping to keep with the Nigerian program after its historic run to the Olympics and could be considered for the head coaching position.
