WATCH: NFL great Sanders’ HS football team confronts reporter

Anyone trying to find out about Prime Prep Academy beware – you might get sacked.

Prime Prep is a Dallas-Fort Worth charter school founded by NFL great Deion Sanders. The institution has come under suspicion by nearby schools in District 11-3A because of the possibly of ineligible transfers. According to Yahoo!, up to 80 percent of the school’s 30 players lived outside the school’s boundaries, thus making them unable to suit up.

When local reporter Brett Shipp of NBC affiliate, tried to tape a practice at a public park he was greeted rather rudely.

A video shows he was confronted by Sanders’ co-head coach and former Dallas Cowboy George Hegamin and told to leave. When Shipp tried to tape from a across the street the practices ceased and the all of the players walked across a busy street and confronted him again.

Sanders claimed in an interview with WFAA that teams in the district don’t want to play him because his squad consists of mostly JV players and just three seniors. That doesn’t seem to bother Sanders, who sees his school as a chance to give kids a better alternative and keep them off the streets.

“That’s crazy,” said. “We have 30 kids. What’s a legitimate varsity player? I thought a player who has skills, knowledge and endurance is a legitimate varsity player?”

The District Executive Committee has already voted to ban Prime Prep, an Under Armour school, from all athletics as it looks to begin its inaugural season.

“We don’t know anything about Prime Prep,” committee member Ronald Johnson told WFAA. “We don’t know who to contact.”

It looks like Prime Prep isn’t ready for prime time.
