First Lady Michelle Obama comes out to explosive applause and Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, sealed, delivered, I’m yours”.
Up to and including the video before her speech, there has been a surprising emphasis on military families so apparently someone understands that hectoring First Lady obssessed with fresh vegetables is not going to be as appealing as First Lady Michelle Obama talking to wounded warriors.
Nice that Obama is touting how important it is that their daughters have a man in their life and how important he is to her as her husband. Three cheers for traditional families!
Obama seems very sincere in her description of her own upbringing.
Obama says being president doesn’t change who you are “it reveals who you are”. There may just but many voters who feel the same way about her husband. He has been revealed to many voters and many aren’t so happy with what they see, at least if some recent polls are to be believed.
He’s committed to creating good jobs that you can raise a family on, says Obama. But is the Lilly Ledbetter Act for equal pay really the best example of that? What about the millions of unemplyed who aren’t getting any cents or any dollars.
And how is her pitch to reproductive choice going to get anyone a job?
Michelle says that President Obama has increased sudent aid so that others can attend college as he did. But if the debt you incur is crushing and you don’t have a job to pay it off, what difference does it make that you were able to incur the debt in the first place.
