A bombshell gender-discrimination suit filed by New York City’s top federal immigration agent was sent yesterday to a Washington, DC, magistrate judge for two months of settlement talks.
James T. Hayes Jr. claims he was demoted from a high post at Immigrations and Customs Enforcement headquarters in 2009 to make way for a less-qualified woman, Dora Schriro, now city jails commissioner.
His suit prompted the resignation of former ICE Chief of Staff Suzanne Barr, whom he accused of engaging in crude sexual antics that “created a frat-house type atmosphere that is targeted to humiliate . . . male employees.”
