A New Jersey man was struck by lightning and later died Friday following a sudden lightning storm.
According to The Record, the 71-year-old was struck while attending his grandson’s soccer game.
The lightning strike happened at about 4:15 p.m. outside Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, NJ.
Police officials said the man was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The newspaper reports that following the strike, nine students were hospitalized after experiencing “tingling sensations.”
