Macaulay Culkin hasn’t been “Home Alone” this past year.
The actor has been using his New York apartment as a painting studio, developing artwork with two friends.
The group’s efforts will appear in an exhibit that opens Thursday, Sept. 13 and runs until December – “Leisure Inferno,” at the gallery Le Poisson Rouge.
Culkin, 32, hasn’t made many public appearances since he was snapped in February looking gaunt and pale, unshaven and nursing a can of Red Bull.
A YouTube video previewing his art exhibit shows a barefoot, better-fed Culkin discussing his artwork with pals Adam Green and Toby Goodshank.
The exhibit includes modern, mural-sized paintings that skew famous pieces and pop culture – including “Seinfeld,” “Wheel of Fortune,” Kurt Cobain and dogs playing poker.
In the video, Culkin discusses how his apartment provided the right setting for the group’s creativity.
“We cleared out everything, laid down plastic and went a little nuts at the art supply store,” Culkin says.
Macaulay Culkin, filling his home with supplies and innovation? Sounds familiar.
