The Jets received positive news on star cornerback Darrelle Revis, who was cleared to resume physical activity Wednesday after suffering a concussion in Sunday’s win over the Bills.
Revis still will not practice Wednesday, but is able to run and lift weights. Jets coach Rex Ryan said he’s encouraged by Revis’ progress but the team will err on the side of caution when it comes to playing Revis in Sunday’s game with the Steelers.
“You have to take care of your player number one,” Ryan said. “That’s the way it should be. Unless he’s ready to go, you don’t put him out there, period. It’s funny. He’s in the meetings and he’s engaged and everything else. That’s encouraging to me.”
Ryan said they hope as the week goes on he will be able to do more things. It is unlikely he will do any contact drills prior to Sunday’s game.
Here are the other injury updates:
Not practicing Wednesday: OLB Bryan Thomas (hamstring), OT Dennis Landolt (knee)
Limited in practice: NT Sione Po’uha (back), WR Stephen Hill (calf)
Will be evaluated before practice, but likely limited: S Eric Smith (hip/knee), TE Dustin Keller (hamstring), FB John Conner (knee), WR Jeremy Kerley (back)
