An off-duty Bronx cop was stabbed at his Jamaica, Queens residence this afternoon, authorities said.
An unconscious Rishi Gobin, 34, was taken to Jamaica Hospital after he was stabbed in the right side at 1:10 pm.
He was sedated and in stable condition, Commissioner Ray Kelly said.
“They did a cursory examination. It doesn’t appear any vital organs were struck,” Kelly said outside the hospital. “He is sedated, so we’re not able to speak with him at this time.”
The police officer, five-year veteran of the force stationed in the 42 Precinct, was hit in the head in addition to being stabbed, law enforcement sources told The Post.
The cop initially told responders that two men came up the stairs and stabbed him after they tried to rob him, law enforcement sources said.
A video at a nearby house does not show anyone fleeing, the sources added.
Kelly said that the cop was able to call authorities himself after he was stabbed.
“We believe he was alone when he made the call,” he said.
An army of cops descended on the scene on 170th Street.
Police closed down the street around the hospital as the bare-chested cop was wheeled in around 1:30.
