A veteran NYPD sergeant shot and killed a 22-year-old ex-con who was fleeing arrest during an undercover prostitution sting in Red Hook, police said yesterday.
Tyjuan Hill, 22, and three other men allegedly drove up to a “hooker” on Henry and Huntington streets at 10 p.m. Thursday and were ordered to get out of the car, but Hill, who had done time for robbery, ran instead.
“He’s brought down to the sidewalk [near the Gowanus Expressway],” NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.
Hill allegedly pulled a 9mm Kal Tec handgun and pointed it at the unidentified 32-year-old sergeant, who shot Hill in the back of the head, police said.
Hill’s mom isn’t buying it.
Carol Hill, 44, said he’d just called her at 9:30 p.m. to say he was headed home.
“He knows better than to carry a weapon,” she said. “[And] he had no trouble getting a girl. He was a very handsome guy.”
