Straight ‘Arrow’
Having survived a Pacific Ocean shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen returns home to Starling City and starts to make amends for his profligate behavior. High on his list is a reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. But the new series “Arrow” is not an apologetic, 12-step kind of show. It is the name of Oliver’s secret persona — a vigilante who fights the ills of society. When do people find the time to do all these good works? It all sounds ducky except for one thing: Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Starring Stephen Amell as Arrow and Katie Cassidy as Laurel.

Men with poles
Death is an everyday possibility at Chicago Firehouse 51, setting for the new series “Chicago Fire.” Big reputations and bigger egos, coupled with the pressure to perform and make split-second decisions, put squad members at odds with each other. In the middle of a divorce, Lieutenant Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) tries to go about business as usual but can’t help butting heads with the brash Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) of the Rescue Squad — and each blames the other for their fallen team member. When it’s “go-time” though, they put aside their differences and put everything on the line for each other. Also starring in this Dick Wolf enterprise are Eamonn Walker, Charlie Barnett, David Eigenberg and Merle Dandridge.

Caroline has an unusual reaction to the event and everyone sees a surprising new side of Han (Matthew Moy). Does he go Bronson on everyone?
