Mike Glennon found Bryan Underwood for a 2-yard touchdown pass on fourth down with 16 seconds left, helping North Carolina State rally to beat third-ranked Florida State 17-16 last night.
The Seminoles (5-1, 2-1 ACC) appeared poised to strengthen their grip on their division, leading 16-0 at halftime behind a dominating defensive performance. But the Wolfpack (4-2, 1-1) inched closer after halftime before coming up with a game-turning blocked punt with 2:27 left, giving the ball back to Glennon at the FSU 43 with a chance to complete a stunning comeback.
Glennon marched the Wolfpack down the field and completed a pair of fourth-down passes, the second when he found Underwood alone over the middle to tie the game and take the lead on the ensuing point-after kick.
FSU drove near midfield in the final seconds, but the Wolfpack defense knocked down EJ Manuel’s desperation heave near the goal line to end it.
West Virginia 48, Texas 45
In Austin, Texas, Geno Smith passed for four touchdowns, the last to Tavon Austin with 10:50 remaining, leading No. 8 West Virginia (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) to a wild shootout win in over No. 11 Texas (4-1, 1-1).
Smith has 24 touchdown passes this season without an interception. Andrew Buie ran for 207 yards and two TDs, the second giving the Mountaineers (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) a 10-point lead late.
Clemson 47, Georgia Tech 31
In Clemson, S.C., Tajh Boyd threw for a career high 397 yards and DeAndre Hopkins had 173 yards receiving as the No. 15 Tigers (5-1, 2-1 ACC) beat Georgia Tech (2-4, 1-3).
West Virginia didn’t seal the win until recovering an onside kick with 14 seconds left after Texas scored a touchdown on a pass from David Ash to Marquise Goodwin.
Joe Bergeron scored four touchdowns, all on short runs, for Texas, which is 2-7 at home in conference games the since 2010.
Stanford 54, Arizona 48 (OT)
In Stanford, Calif., Chase Thomas intercepted a tipped pass by Matt Scott in overtime, Stepfan Taylor ran for a 21-yard score two plays later and the No. 18 Cardinal (4-1, 2-1 Pac-12) rallied from a two-TD deficit to stun Arizona (3-3, 0-3).
Notre Dame 41, Miami 3

In Columbia, S.C., Connor Shaw threw two touchdown passes and ran for another and Ace Sanders had a dazzling 70-yard punt return TD as No. 6 South Carolina (6-0, 4-0 SEC) dominated fifth-ranked Georgia (5-1, 3-1) for a school-record 10th straight win.
Ohio State 63, Nebraska 38
In Columbus, Ohio, Braxton Miller rushed for 186 yards, zig-zagging 72 yards for one score and passing for another, to lead No. 12 Ohio State (6-0) past No. 21 Nebraska (4-2) before the largest crowd ever at Ohio Stadium.
Oklahoma 41, Texas Tech 20
In Lubbock, Texas, Landry Jones passed for two touchdowns, Blake Bell ran for two more and No. 17 Oklahoma (3-1, 1-1 Big 12) beat Texas Tech (4-1, 1-1), avenging the Sooners’ home loss to the Red Raiders last season.
Penn St. 39, Northwestern 28
In State College, Pa., quarterback Matt McGloin had the go-ahead score on a 5-yard touchdown run with 2:37 left and Penn State (4-2, 2-0 Big Ten) rallied from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to beat No. 24 Northwestern (5-1, 1-1).
In other games, No. 14 Oregon State survived a shaky start to top Washington State 19-6; No. 20 Mississippi State beat Kentucky 27-14; No. 17 Oklahoma State devoured Texas Tech 41-20; No. 7 Kansas State routed Kansas 56-16; and Iowa State stunned No. 15 TCU, 37-23.
