Little Doc sharing ‘Voice’ for ‘Miracle’ record
It is a busy time of year for Dwight Gooden, keeping up with appearances for the Yankees as the playoff begins.
Now Doc’s son, Dwight Jr., is pitching in his own way for the Yankees. The young rapper finished recording the song “Yankee Miracles” — with the current star of NBC’s “The Voice,” LaGuardia High School student Alessandra Guercio — and now will start filming the video for the song at Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island this week.
The song is being produced by Ray Negron (his bestselling book “Yankee Miracles” is the inspiration for the tune, about overcoming adversity and following your dreams) and Dwight Gooden Sr., whose story is told throughout the book.
A portion of the proceeds from the song will also go to benefit Alzheimer’s Research.
“My whole life is about paying forward, and it gave me great joy to bring Dwight Jr. into this latest product, he is a star in music like his dad was on the mound,” Negron said.

Yonkers golfer gets ‘Big Break’
Keep an eye on Anthony Casalino, a PGA apprentice at Westchester’s Willow Ridge CC, who is one of the 12 contestants on “Big Break Greenbrier,’’ the latest reality golf competition series airing weekly on Golf Channel.
Casalino, a 32-year-old Yonkers native who attended Iona College, turned his life around after filing for bankruptcy in 2005. Recently, he qualified for the Met Open and has played well in other area tournaments.
On “Big Break,” he is competing for various prizes, including an exemption to next year’s Greenbrier Classic on the PGA Tour.
“It was a most amazing experience,’’ Casalino told The Rumble.
He survived the first episode but cannot reveal how far he got on the show before it airs.
“This is a whole new level of pressure,” he said, “one shot could be your last.’’
H.S. team gets pep talk from Sanchize
How did mark Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez spend his Friday night? He wasn’t clubbing with famous “Desperate Housewife” Eva Longoria. Sanchez was at Bernards (N.J.) HS where he gave the football team a pregame pep talk then watched among the crowd as the undefeated Mountaineers beat previously unbeaten New Providence, 42-3. Sanchez, who lives in nearby Bedminster, became friendly with the team during last summer’s NFL lockout, when he and several other Jets used the school’s turf field for workouts.
Wizards, Friends helping Haiti
It must be the shoes. It’s been years since a devastating earthquake struck Haiti, and the island nation still needs as much support as possible. With that in mind, the Harlem Wizards and Friends Seminary, a Quaker School on East 16th Street, have joined forces. The Wizards will play against a team of Friends players, coaches and parents Friday.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is free, but all are urged to bring sneakers and basketballs which will be collected and donated to Hoops for Haiti. Students at Friends have visited Haiti many times since the earthquake and continue to try to help the island nation rebuild.
