CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia’s treasurer has a check waiting for Matt Lauer, albeit a small one.
Treasurer John Perdue said Wednesday that the “Today” show co-host is on a list of people due unclaimed property.
Perdue serves as the custodian for the unclaimed accounts. He didn’t disclose details of Lauer’s check but calls it “very small.” State law prohibits divulging unclaimed property amounts.
The property can be claimed through the website http://www.wvtreasury.com.
Lauer began his television career as producer of the noon news at WOWK-TV in Huntington in 1979. He bounced around in several other TV jobs before becoming co-host on the NBC morning show in 1997.
