Krysten Ritter has joined the cast of the big-screen version of “Veronica Mars.”
Ritter, who played Gia Goodman on the UPN/CW series in 2005-06, broke the news via Twitter.
“G-G-G-Gia!!!! I’m thrilled to be reprising my role of Gia Goodman in the Veronica Mars movie!!! It’s gonna be very juicy,” she tweeted.
“Veronica Mars has a special place in my heart because it was my first big acting job (!!!!!!) and it was also one of the most lovely on-set experiences you could ever ask for,” she tweeted.
“This will truly be an awesome shoot, not only because we all get to be reunited (can’t WAIT!) but because of the revolutionary way this all was able to come to life!”
The movie is being financed via a $6 million online Kickstarter (contributor-funded) campaign and will be directed by series creator Rob Thomas.
Series star Kristen Bell, who played Veronica, has already committed to the movie, as have co-stars Tina Majorino, Francis Capra, Enrico Colantoni, Brandon Hillock and several others.
The series, which revolved around Veronica — a high school student who moonlights as a private detective — aired from 2004-07. It premiered on the now-defunct UPN and switched over to The CW for its final season.
