A poodle mix owned by an actor best known for the ‘90s sitcom “Spin City” viciously attacked an Upper East Side woman in Central Park, according to a new lawsuit.
Alexander Chaplin, 42, who played the mayoral aide James Hobert in the Michael J. Fox TV show from 1996-2000, allegedly allowed his goldendoodle Freddy to “approach, menace and attack” Denise Shaw, 61, during an incident in 2011, causing serious injuries.
The E. 85th Street woman faults Chaplin for not restraining Freddy even though he “was known…to be wild, unruly, vicious and possessed of a ferocious nature and disposition with a propensity to attack or rush human beings,” according to the Manhattan Supreme Court suit.
“We’re dealing with this,” Chaplin told The Post outside his E. 84th St. apartment building today.
“This is from two years ago,” he said. “We’re calling a lawyer.”
His neighbor, Leila, who owns a Chihuahua, doubted Shaw’s claim.
“Everyone knows Freddy,” she said. “He’s the most adorable dog. If you met him you’d fall in love.”
A spokeswoman for the Department of Health said her agency “has not received bite reports associated with this owner.”
