He’s produced smash Broadway hits like “Lucky Guy” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” but renovations at his Manhattan pied-a-terre were a big flop.
Scott Zeilinger — whose credits also include the current Bette Midler show, “I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers,” and “Death of a Salesman” — is suing his contractor and an interior designer-to-the-stars, saying they bungled a $175,000 rehab on his $1.3 million Central Park West studio.
Scott and his wife, Cathy, both 51, who also have a home in Ohio, hired the design firm Marks & Frantz, which created sets for “Sex and the City,” to supervise the project.
The firm recommended they hire the company Ashton Remodeling & Construction and vouched for its professionalism.
But the Zeilingers fired Ashton in March for alleged delays, defective work and overcharging.
“Marks & Frantz, in breach of its contract, failed to oversee the work performed by Ashton and subcontractors,” the Manhattan Supreme Court suit alleges.
The third-story unit at The Alden at 225 Central Park West now looks like a flood swept through: The oak and walnut floors are buckling, there are cracks in molding and the kitchen cabinets are warped, the suit claims.
Neither Marks & Frantz nor Ashton returned calls and e-mails seeking comment.
