An elderly man was killed by a city bus in Manhattan this morning, police said.
The 80-year-old was struck by an M101 bus heading downtown on Third Avenue while crossing 20th Street from east to west against the traffic signal about 10:30 a.m., cops said.
“He wasn’t moving,” said a restaurant worker, who declined to give his name. “It’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Krystyn Shari, 47, owner of Barfly NY on Third Avenue, also witnessed the accident. “He was bleeding from the head, and the bus ran over his legs,” she said. “[The bus driver] came out and looked horrified.”
EMS rushed the man to Beth Israel Hospital, but he could not be saved.
No criminality is suspected.
