Indians fan Greg Van Niel, who is a season ticket holder didn’t only catch one foul ball during Sunday’s 6-4 win over the Royals, he caught four. There was some impressive glove work involved, as well as a little luck.
“Three of them were catches and one was a ball I picked up off the ground,” Van Niel told Indians blog Tribe Vibe. “The third one I think was the hardest one – I think I ended up sprawled across a few rows, and I got some cheese on myself. But the other ones were just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.”
By the time he caught his fourth foul ball in the fifth inning, he tossed it to a fan who wasn’t as lucky as he was.
Van Niel exchanged his normal seats to seats in section 160, row FF Seat 3, where he had the luckiest day of his life. He had never caught a foul ball before.
