An empty Hampton Jitney bus collided with a garbage truck this morning in Southampton, authorities said.
The garbage truck was driving westbound on County Road 39 near David White Lane around 4:30 a.m. when the Jitney bus was pulling out of its bus depot — causing the garbage truck to crash into the bus, cops said.
This is the second time in less than a week that a Jitney bus was involved in an accident.
Both the 45-year-old garbage truck driver and the 53-year-old bus driver were taken to area hospitals to be treated for non life-threatening leg injuries, cops said.
No criminality is suspected.
Last Thursday Carissa Castillo, a 29 year-old mother of two, was killed after colliding with a Jitney bus nearby on Route 39 near Saint Andrews Road, authorities said.
