The who:
Industry fixtures Steven Kolb and Ken Downing were joined by bloggers like Bryan Boy and Susie Bubble. We spied Duke of Melrose Cameron Silver, too.
The what:
“It’s quite complicated,” one PR girl was overheard saying about the show’s “Hail Hyperborea” theme. Indeed, we had to Google it ourselves (it’s a nod to an idyllic land mentioned in Greek mythology) but the clothes were much easier to understand. Designers Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters employed red, blush and sky blue for box pleat skirts, cropped pants and a few retro-style camp shirts. Western jackets and silk scarves tied around the neck added to the vintage feel — and went down the runway to The Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby” — but pieces like a silk and cashmere rubbed pullover were decidedly modern.
The highlight:
A fitted trench in blush and pink, amped-up with a broken marble pattern.
The takeaway:
The designers stuck to their offbeat sensibilities while presenting wearable, relatable pieces. That’s a good thing.
