Darrelle Revis has about four million reasons why he’s content playing for Greg Schiano’s winless Bucs instead of Rex Ryan’s resurgent Jets, who are in playoff position at 5-4.
Late Sunday night, somebody with the handle @Jason_Owen tweeted at Revis: “Back in the good old days when @Revis24 played for a team that mattered. Wonder if 12MM per and Rex as coach has any merit vs Schaino & 16MM.”
Revis, is in his first season with the Buccaneers after playing six seasons with the Jets, responded, “Naw 16 is better.”
The tweet came just hours after the Bucs squandered a big lead in falling to the Seahawks, 27-24, in overtime.
It’s been a rough season for Revis, who reportedly has been unhappy with Schiano’s strict regime and defensive schemes, which had him playing more zone coverage than man-to-man.
He was traded to Tampa Bay in April after reaching an impasse in contract extension talks with the Jets, and subsequently signed a six-year, $96 million deal with the Bucs.
