CHICAGO — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is making it clear he disagrees with the decision that the new World Trade Center will replace Chicago’s Willis Tower as the nation’s tallest skyscraper.
The Height Committee of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat made the announcement on Tuesday. They say the needle being built atop the World Trade Center is a permanent part of the building and not an antenna. They say it should be included when measuring the building’s height. And that makes it taller than the Willis Tower.
But Emanuel says if something looks and acts like an antenna, “Then, guess what? It’s an antenna.”
