AMC is sticking with the western genre.
The network has renewed drama “Hell on Wheels” for an expanded fourth season.
The show moved to Saturdays for its most recent third season, where AMC paired it with its library of classic western films — resulting in a viewership bump from its prior season (averaging 3.3 million viewers in live plus three-day ratings).
Season four will consist of 13 episodes (previous season were 10 episodes long) and premiere next summer.
“Hell on Wheels” stars Anson Mount, Colm Meaney and Common and centers on a lawless town in the path of the first transcontinental railroad during Reconstruction-era America.
Showrunner/executive producer John Wirth, who took the helm after the second season, will also return for Season Four.
