Board names 4 presidents at SUNY schools

ALBANY — The State University of New York trustees have named four presidents of colleges and universities in the SUNY system, including Dr. Gregory Eastwood as interim president of Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

The board of trustees has also named Quentin Wheeler president of SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, Irby Sullivan president of Alfred State College in Alfred and Gregory DeCinque as interim president of Cayuga Community College, with campuses in Auburn and Fulton.

Eastwood, a professor at Upstate Medical University, was its president from 1993 to 2006.

His appointment is effective immediately at an annual salary of $545,000.

Dr. David Smith resigned recently as the school’s president, saying he was cooperating with a SUNY investigation into his compensation by outside companies with ties to the school.
