Vin Diesel finally spoke publicly about the sudden death of friend and “Fast and the Furious” co-star Paul Walker on Monday night.
The “Riddick” star made an appearance at the site where Walker, 40, and his buddy Roger Rodas, 38, perished in a fiery car crash on Saturday afternoon, and spoke to the dozens of gathered fans, TMZ reported.
“To show the love that you have shown Paul … it’s gonna stay with me forever,” an emotional Diesel said using the loudspeaker of a nearby sheriff’s department car.
Walker and Rodas were riding in the latter’s 2005 Porsche GT when the car smashed into a light pole and tree and burst into flames at around 3 p.m. PST on Saturday.
“I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciated him,” Diesel said to the crowd before leaving the crash site.
The two actors were set to continue filming the seventh entry in the “Fast and the Furious” franchise in Atlanta on Monday. The cast and crew had taken a break from production for Thanksgiving.
It’s currently unclear how producers will deal with the passing of Walker, who had appeared in five of the previous six films in the street racing series.
“I can’t even think about anything but the loss of a loved one,” Diesel said when asked when production on the film would resume.
