Most Jets fans have given up on this season. It appears the players are starting to, as well.
Tight end Kellen Winslow predicted the Patriots and Broncos would go to the AFC Championship game on Twitter on Monday. Now, it would be bold to pick the 5-7 Jets, but they are still mathematically alive and it is odd for a player to publicly admit his team’s season is basically over.
The tweet came in a reply to free-agent wide receiver Donte Stallworth, who asked for Super Bowl predictions.
Winslow replied, “I got the pats vs broncos in AFC championship and Panthers vs Seahawks in NFC championship.”

The Jets are only one game out of the final wild-card spot in the AFC, behind the Ravens and Dolphins, who are both 6-6. The Jets probably have to win their final four games to make the playoffs because they lose tiebreakers to most of the teams they are fighting with for the playoff spot.
Winslow’s playing time has been cut dramatically since he returned from a four-game suspension. It will be interesting to see how his tweet is received by teammates and coach Rex Ryan.
On Sunday, Winslow admitted the Jets’ situation was not a good one, but vowed, “We’ll go down swinging.”
