There are now so many sports lovers on Madison Avenue that ESPN is switching its upfront dog-and-pony presentation to Broadway’s Minskoff Theater, which gives the sports media company about 50 percent more capacity to entertain marketers and agency reps.
The upfront presentation runs in the morning on May 13, ahead of ABC’s new schedule.
ESPN has been holding its upfront at the Nokia/Best Buy Theater for almost a decade, but rumor has it the switch was made because global marketing and sales chief Ed Erhardtis a theater buff. Sadly for theater fans, the presentation will mean “The Lion King” won’t be available while the ESPN crew set up and break down.
