The 10 best moments from return of ‘Mindy Project’

Oh, “Mindy Project,” how we’ve missed thee.

As a reward for enduring a two-month hiatus without the Mindy Kaling comedy, fans Tuesday night were treated to two back-to-back episodes for its midseason return on Fox.

When we last left our romantic heroine, she and will-they-won’t-they love interest/co-worker Danny (Chris Messina) finally kissed, on a plane back from a medical conference in LA.

But predictably, it was far from happily ever after, as last night’s very funny episodes saw Mindy have to deal with the return of boyfriend Cliff (Glenn Howerton) and the discovery of a sex tape. Here are our top 10 favorite moments from the night:

Mindy channels ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ to end things with Cliff

Danny (Chris Messina, left) and Mindy (Mindy Kaling) are ready for couplehood, but Cliff (Glenn Howerton, right) may be getting in the way.Fox

Of course Mindy would mine this Kate Hudson/Matthew McConaughey rom-com classic to get her out of a relationship she no longer wants. When Cliff surprises her on her return to New York and takes her back (just as she and Danny have decided to make a go at being a couple), Mindy has a hard time breaking up with Cliff. Then she remembers she’s much better at getting dumped than doing it — cue the overly comfortable bathroom habits and hysterical freakouts.

Mindy can’t help the office pitch for the New York City Ballet account because she’s banned from Lincoln Center

“Because apparently there is a three-strikes policy for falling in the fountain there.”

Danny has Mindy act out her hook-up with Cliff on a skeleton

Jealous that Mindy spent the night at Cliff’s to console him over the death of his grandmother, he demands she use the office’s model skeleton “to show me on this what you did to Cliff last night.”

Mindy writes the eulogy for Cliff’s grandmother, because he is led to believe she’s a great writer

And in it, she cites Anna Nicole Smith and Kendrick Lamar, natch.

Mindy dares Danny to prove all the girls in his phone contact list want to hook up with him

When one finally calls him back, she mentions “my rates have gone up.” Ouch.

Danny has a stuffed giraffe named Neck

. . . that his younger brother Richie brings to him in the hospital when he gets viral meningitis, for him to snuggle with. Aw, we knew he was a big softie underneath that tough exterior.

Mindy discovers that a sex tape she made with an old boyfriend (Bill Hader) is on the Internet

Peter (Adam Pally) and Mindy discover that a sex tape from her past has made the rounds on the Internet.Fox

It’s on a site called Sploderzz.com, and owners Andrew (Rob Huebel) and Zachary (Matt Oberg) refuse to take it down because of the demand for “Indian BBWs.”

The two then offer her $300,000 to do another video, which she briefly contemplates

Zachary (Matt Oberg) and Andrew (Rob Huebel), the owners of Sploderzz.com, make Mindy an offer she can’t refuse.Fox

And we find out Mindy has nicknamed her ta-tas “Vince” and “Owen” — after “Wedding Crashers” stars Vaughn and Wilson, we can only assume.

Danny reads ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ to Mindy in the hospital bed, when she comes down with meningitis, too

Danny knows that a good read will make Mindy smile.

And even voices all the characters in a British accent. He’s a keeper!
