A worker doing facade work on the luxury Dream Hotel in Midtown plummeted seven stories to his death from scaffolding, sources said.
The hardhat landed between the first and second floors of the hotel on West 55th Street, near Broadway, at around 2:10 p.m., Wednesday.
“He’s falling! He’s falling!” workers were heard saying as they yelled for help for their colleague, according to Riyaz Akhtar, executive vice president for Hampshire Hotels Management.
“That’s when I went down and I called 911 from my office,” said Akhtar, whose company owns the hotel.
Investigators were combing the scene for clues about how the worker fell.
A witness said the victim slipped through planks in the scaffolding.
The worker is believed to be in his 40s. Police officers didn’t release his name because his family had not been notified.
He was doing facade work for a contractor called Alpha General Construction, which could not be reached.
Three members of the construction crew scattered in terror when the victim tumbled from the scaffolding. They ran across three rooftops until they encountered Akhtar.
The scaffolding was erected by Everest Scaffolding, which refused to comment.
