“Mad Men” is starting to show its age.
The AMC drama — which returned for its seventh and final season Sunday night — averaged 2.3 million viewers at 10 p.m., its least-watched season premiere since Season 2 (which aired in the summer).
That was down 32 percent from the show’s two-hour Season 6 premiere last April (3.4 million viewers) and was down 15 percent from the Season 6 finale (2.7 million viewers).
Sunday’s season premiere drew 1.1 million viewers in the advertiser-targeted adults 25-54 demo and 1 million among adults 18-49. In those demos, the episode was down 35 percent and 29 percent, respectively, from its last season opener.
Season 7, which features several main characters now living in Los Angeles in 1969, will be split into two parts, with seven episodes airing this spring and seven more in 2015.
