A 19-year-old Bronx woman was stabbed in the chest and killed Saturday morning inside her Fordham apartment, police said.
Jasmine Canton was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital, with a single knife wound.
Police placed evidence markers along East 193rd Street, denoting drops of blood on the sidewalk leading away from Canton’s Creston Avenue apartment building.
A neighbor, who gave his name as Leon, says he thinks he saw the killer around 8:45 a.m. fleeing the scene.
“I walking my dog, I saw a dude run out of the basement with a huge knife. He ran down the block, his clothes were covered in blood,” Leon told The Post. “He stopped and looked at me and my dog — the look in his eyes was crazy. He was definitely high on something.”
Leon said he tried to flag down a police car but couldn’t get the attention of the officers.
“They need to catch him, he’s still got that knife somewhere,” said Leon, who described the potential suspect as a man in his 30s wearing blue pants.
Canton went out around 2 a.m. and returned with a man, with whom she was allegedly doing drugs, according to a neighbor who spoke with Canton’s roommate.
The investigation is ongoing.
