Coming to NYC — Condé Nast Traveler’s Hot Line Booth

Still unsure where to travel for that upcoming Summer 2014 vacation? Fear not — the wise (and crafty) folks at Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) magazine are literally here to help. Starting Thursday, the magazine is debuting a real-life information booth smack-dab in the heart of Downtown Manhattan. Dubbed the Condé Nast Traveler Hot Line Booth — the nifty kiosk will first open in Union Square for three days before moving north to Columbus Circle on Sunday. In each location, the Kiosk — which is designed to resemble a traditional British phone booth — will house a flat-screen TV with two-way Skype system. The set-up allows visitors to chat with real-live CNT representatives who’ll provide complimentary travel tips, advice and know-how. It’s a one-on-one concierge-like service without the concierge-like prices — offering, says CNT Editor-in-Chief Pilar Guzman, info on both far-flung global destinations as well as ideas right here in Gotham.

“As travelers gear up for summer, we are dispatching Condé Nast Traveler editors and specialists to the streets of New York City,” Guzman says. “We want to hear where people are headed and to offer our expertise and advice on everything from the new properties on our Hot list to under the radar things to do in New York City.”

The Booth will serve visitors at 17th Street and Broadway in Union Square from 10am-5pm daily May 8 to 10; and at the same time in Columbus Circle from May 11 to 13. And to make sure you arrive question-ready, here are five new global hotels that made it onto CNT’s Hot List 2014 issue — which was released last week.
