Spero Dedes leaving Knicks radio; Mike Crispino likely back

Knicks radio play-by-play man Spero Dedes will not have his contract renewed, according to an NBA source.

Dedes’ three-year contract expired after the season. Ironically, Dedes, a Fordham graduate, is a former Lakers broadcaster who covered Phil Jackson’s last championship in Los Angeles. Dedes is attempting to have his career take on more of a national focus. He currently works some NFL and NCAA Tournament games on CBS, and had been looking for additional flexibility in his next contract with MSG.

Mike Crispino, Dedes’ backup, is expected to assume Dedes’ duties. Crispino had the full-time Knicks radio gig before Dedes arrived from Los Angeles. Brendan Brown, who has been the color analyst, likely will stay on.
