A Good Samaritan chased down a hit-and-run driver who rammed into a mechanic working on a Brooklyn sidewalk Saturday morning, cops and witnesses said.
“He sideswiped him and didn’t even have the decency to stop,” said the Good Samaritan, Kero, who declined to give his last name.
The reckless driver tried to pass Kero in a bike lane, then slammed into mechanic Felipe Castro, 27 — sending him flying head-first into a parked car on Third Avenue near Seventh Street at 8 a.m., witnesses said.
Instead of calling an ambulance, the cold-hearted man took off — prompting Kero to give chase in his Toyota for seven blocks, cops and witnesses said.
Kero caught up to the man, who was driving a black Nissan, near Third Avenue and 14th Street, recorded the driver’s license plate number and give it to cops, police sources and witnesses said.
Kero added that the man initially didn’t see Castro, who was working on a car parked partially on the sidewalk.
“He was behind me he kept beeping me. He wasn’t happy at the speed I was going … He didn’t have a clear view, ” Kero said.
Castro was rushed to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
“He is excellent at his job and a good man,” said Jaun Carlos Rivera, who works at Samba Transmission with Castro.
No arrests were made on Saturday. Cops are still investigating.
