A successful Manhattan jewelry designer jumped to his death from his Upper West Side apartment building Tuesday afternoon, sources said.
Robin Rotenier, 51, used a hammer to break a window in his home on West End Avenue near West 97th Street and jumped out around 12:30 p.m., sources said.
The Paris-born designer, who graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, started his own line, Rotenier New York, in 1993.
Best known for his handcrafted cufflinks, his sterling silver collections for both men and women are sold in Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman.
Cufflinks on his website sell from $395 up to $9,800 for a pair of ruby inlaid cuffs.
The third generation designer did not leave behind a note, sources said.
