A new hot spot is mixing it up downtown. Soho’s Haus — a bar and lounge — hopes to attract the après work cocktail crowd by morphing into a music nightclub.
The 5,300-square-foot three-level space at 285 West Broadway is taking over the former home of the Canal Room in the historic Brunner Building.
The venue by Rawlins Design has 25 tables as well as a 34-foot-long bar. Special features include a 16-foot tin ceiling and a chandelier that can reflect “16.7 million shades of color, all individually controlled with a push of a button by Matrix software,” a spokesperson said.
Rael Petit of Mulberry Project will also hold how-to sessions on mixology.
And speaking of night life, the Upper West Side’s Empire Hotel now features a revamped 6,000-square-foot rooftop. Level R features a new “state-of-the art” sound and lighting system and DJ booth.
We hear… that Today’s Epicure, a high-end restaurant concierge service, is launching its summer wine feast at its third annual suckling pig dinner Tuesday at Daniel Boulud’s DBGB Kitchen & Bar. TE, which helps members land hard-to-get reservations, is offering a complimentary bottle of wine selected by founder Pascal Riffaud when dinners are booked at participating restaurants.
