We’ve entered the thick of summer — not exactly the prime season for a Caribbean getaway, or so you might think.
In fact, it’s the perfect time to enjoy those white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, ’cause you’ll be sharing them with far fewer people — and at a pretty nice discount.
Already booked your summer vacay? Not to worry — many of these deals extend well into winter.
But hurry, like an ice cream cone on a hot day, they won’t last long.
Anguilla
There’s more to the Caribbean than just lying on the beach (though that’s just fine by us).
Like, say, grabbing your clubs and heading to the Greg Norman 18-hole championship course at the CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa. The Suite Escapes promo nets you a 30 percent discount on any suite, with rates starting at $420 for a Sea View Junior Suite, through Dec. 19.
The Art of the Getaway offer (through Dec. 19) at the Viceroy Anguilla means up to a $500 daily credit, depending on your accommodations, to spend at the resort on spa services, cooking classes or dining, including great deals on prix-fixe dinner menus at the hotel’s restaurants. The family-friendly Bamboo prix-fixe is just $49 per person and the signature Coba (with amazing sea views) is just $69 per person. Rooms start at $550 per night.
British Virgin Islands
A whopping 60 islands make up the BVI; but one of our favorites is Virgin Gorda, where you’ll find Rosewood Little Dix Bay. Puerto Rico
With plenty of direct, affordable flights from NYC and no passport needed, this island is one of our favorite getaways.
With the Sunsational Savings offer at the W Retreat & Spa on secluded Vieques Island, get a third night free, a $100 dining credit and a complimentary upgrade based upon availability, from Aug. 13 to Nov. 1. Rates start at around $409 per night.
At the swanky Ritz-Carlton Dorado Beach, the “Stay More, Save More” package, now through Dec. 20, starts with 25 percent off your reservation if you stay four nights, with savings increasing 5 percent for every additional night you stay up to seven nights (topping out at a 40 percent discount, plus a $250 resort credit). Marriott Caribbean Resorts
Marriott’s “Price Slice in Paradise” lets you save 30 percent on minimum two-night stays at select properties all across the Caribbean, including the perennially popular Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort, the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino and Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino.
