Terry Crews juggles ‘Millionaire’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine Nine’

Terry Crews, who debuted on Monday as the host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” says he’s been busy with his other job — co-starring as Sgt. Terry Jeffords on Fox’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”

“Last season he was pretty much out of commission because of his fears, but he was cleared for duty toward the end of the season and ‘The Ebony Falcon’ is back,” Crews says, laughing. “He got his gun back … and this year there will be a lot more of him doing his thing. The different combinations of us all working together creates a new dynamic,” says Crews, alluding to fellow co-stars like Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher. “We’ve had Eva Longoria and Terrell Owens and Patton Oswalt in as guest stars … and, as a cast, we’ve clicked so quickly. Every cast member could have their own show.”

Season 2 of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” premieres Sept. 28 (8:30/Ch. 5). Crews told me that he’s working on a sequel to his first book, “Manhood: How to Be a Better Man or at Least Live with One,” published last May. “It should have been called ‘Terry Crews Was an Idiot,’” he said. “There will definitely be a follow-up book. I’m learning new things every day. I’m a work in progress.”

CUNY wins its Tony

Veteran local newsman Tony Guida has joined the ranks of CUNY TV’s “Arts in the City.” His first piece for the show, profiling legendary Looney Tunes animator Chuck Jones, airs Friday (10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.). The Bronx-born Guida began his career in Savannah, Ga. in 1963 and is known to New Yorkers for his years at Ch. 9, Ch. 4, Ch. 2, CNN and WCBS 880 AM — where his first day on the job, in 2001, was Sept. 11. He joins a CUNY TV roster of familiar local TV names including Pat Collins, Donna Hanover, Carol Anne Riddell, Mike Gilliam, Dr. Max Gomez and Ernabel Demillo.

Elsewhere on the local news scene, Alison Morris has joined Ch. 5 as a business reporter starting Sept. 22. She’ll report for the station’s 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts.

Just call it ‘direct’ TV

Adaptive Studios, the producers of “Project Greenlight,” wants viewers to help select the filmmakers who will compete on the show’s upcoming season, premiering this spring on HBO. On Sept. 15, fans can log on to Adaptive’s Facebook page and view (and vote on) the 200 video submissions selected for round one of “Greenlight,” helping to narrow the field down to 20 aspiring filmmakers. All contestants were required to submit a three-minute short — with the ultimate “Project Greenlight” winner given a Hollywood script to direct.

Speaking of movies, Elizabeth Masucci (TNT’s upcoming cop drama “Public Morals”) is currently co-starring with Troy Garity in “Lily of the Feast,” a big-screen flick currently shooting in Brooklyn (Williamsburg). Garity, by the way, is Jane Fonda’s son.
