A suicidal man guzzling a can of Coors threatened to jump off the Pershing Square Bridge right outside Grand Central Terminal on Monday afternoon.
The booze hound, in his 50s, was pounding a 20-ounce can of the Rocky Mountain brew on the elevated roadway at East 42nd Street and Park Avenue when he stepped over a barrier at 4 p.m. and threatened to leap nearly 50 feet off the historic viaduct.
Cops said he also had a boxcutter, but it wasn’t clear if he threatened to cut himself.
After establishing a dialogue with the unidentified man, cops were able to coax him off the ledge and back onto the roadway.
He surrendered voluntarily, they said.
The man wouldn’t have been the first character to take a leap from the bridge.
Actor Will Smith, playing an NYPD cop, jumped off the landmarked overpass while pursuing a criminal in the movie “Men in Black.” His character survived the drop.
