“Harold & Kumar” star Kal Penn, who worked in the Obama White House, is joining the ranks of TV pundits.
Penn has been hired by Fusion, the cable network co-owned by ABC and Univision, to be a special correspondent for the upcoming midterm elections. Starting He will appear on Fusion’s LA-based “Midterm Mayhem: The Ultimate Political Smackdown,” airing Sunday through Thursday at 9:30 p.m. starting Oct. 5.
Penn, who spent two seasons playing Dr. Lawrence Kutner on “House” and also appeared in “How I Met Your Mother” — in addition to the “Harold & Kumar” movies with John Cho — joined the Obama White House in 2009 as associate director of its Office of Public Engagement.
He’s also taught at the University of Pennsylvania and UCLA and will star in the upcoming CBS series “Battle Creek,” from “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan.
