Giorgio Armani’s take in New York City just got a little bit bigger.
The silver-haired designer owns a penthouse apartment at 91 Central Park West. He is now purchasing the rest of the floor so he will have a full-floor penthouse. The 15-story, limestone-clad building put up in 1929 on the corner of West 69th Street boasts spectacular views and history.
The penthouse floor was once owned by William Randolph Hearst. The sellers of the apartment that Armani is scooping up are bringing some of the apartment artifacts to auction on Oct. 18, including hand-carved mahogany and oak doors that Hearst “brought back from churches in Europe” for the penthouse, according to a spokesperson for Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques.
