With the midterm elections right around the corner, what better way to get the young’uns out to vote than with a star-studded remix of Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What?”
The celebs turned out in droves for Rock the Vote’s latest video campaign, which debuted Tuesday morning. Cameos include everyone from Whoopi Goldberg and celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson to “One Tree Hill” star Sophia Bush and “Glee” actor Darren Criss.
“Man, I can’t wait for Season 4 of ‘Girls,’ ” Lil Jon says to Lena Dunham before stepping into the voting booth. “I know you’re tired of everybody asking you if Ray and Shoshanna are going to end up together.”
“Lil Jon, I really wish I could tell you, but it’s a secret,” she calmly informs the infamous rapper.
The celebrities also use the video as a platform to promote the causes they’ll be considering when casting their votes in November, including global warming, prison reform, women’s rights, deforestation, and Lil Jon’s favorite, the legalization of marijuana.
“I’m E.J., and I’m turning out for marriage equality,” says “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills” star E.J. Johnson, who appears alongside Ireland Baldwin and Natasha Lyonne.
“Hi, I’m Fred, and I’m turning out because I want to impress my friends,” says a straight-faced Fred Armisen. “That’s the only reason to ever do anything.”
Since 1990, Rock the Vote has been encouraging youth to go out and cast a vote on election day. Last week, they released a video starring none other than It girl Kendall Jenner, reminding those who recently turned 18 to register to vote on National Voter Registration Day.
