A New Hampshire GOP state rep predicted a Democratic congresswoman will lose her re-election bid because she’s “ugly as sin.”
Six-term state Rep. Steve Vaillancourt said US Rep. Annie Kuster doesn’t stand a chance against pretty challenger Marilinda Garcia.
“Let’s be honest. Does anyone not believe that Congresswoman Annie Kuster is as ugly as sin? And I hope I haven’t offended sin,” Vaillancourt penned over the weekend on NH Insider, a blog about Granite State politics.
The lumpy, balding Vaillancourt fawned all over Republican challenger Garcia.
“Republican Marilinda Garcia is one of the mot [sic] attractive women on the political scene anywhere, not so attractive as to be intimindating [sic], but truly attractive.”
US Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) was livid over Vaillancourt’s assessment and called on Democrats to donate to Kuster’s campaign.
“It’s disgusting,” Gillibrand said in a prepared statement Tuesday. “New Hampshire Congresswoman Annie Kuster is an intelligent, strong Democrat who has championed our values from day one, yet this attack insults everything we have worked to accomplish.”
Vaillancourt claimed the comments are based on sound polling data, political history — and his recent trip past a Montreal drag bar.
The lawmaker said he spotted a drag queen outside St. Catherine Street club Mados and thought of Kuster.
“By now you probably know why I think of Annie Kuster whenever I walk by Mados; sad to say the drag queens are more attractive than Annie Kuster … not that there’s anything wrong with that,” he wrote.
